Hartford Symphony Orchestra Director to Open Lecture Series

Carolyn Kuan will open the 11th season of the Village Lecture Series in Farmington on Jan. 6.

The Village Lecture Series in Farmington will open its 11th season with a presentation by Carolyn Kuan, Music Director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Kuan was named to the position of Music Director in January of 2011. When announcing her selection, the symphony described her as “one of the most exciting, innovative and outstanding conductors of her generation.” She possesses “explosive passion, impeccable technique and profound musical depth.” She has conducted symphony orchestras throughout the United States and has now brought her considerable talents to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. She will speak about music and her work with the Hartford Symphony.

The program will be held at the Porter Memorial, 75 Main Street (Route 10), Farmington at 4 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 6. Tickets prices are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children and may be purchased at the door or by mail from First Church of Christ Congregational, 1652, 75 Main Street, Farmington, CT 06032.

This lecture is the first in a series of three. Eric Jay Dolan will speak on “When America First Met China” on Jan. 13, and Dr. Edison T. Liu will discuss “Genetic Research at Jackson Laboratory” on Feb. 3.
