Hepburn Home Hosts Fundraiser for Hall High Drama

The West Hartford students are raising money for a trip to Scotland to perform at the Fringe Festival this summer.

 Submitted by Chuck Coursey.

Katharine Hepburn’s former West Hartford home was the setting for a recent fundraising reception to support Hall High School Theater Arts Department’s August 2013 performance at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Fringe is the largest annual arts festival in the world. Hall was chosen as one of 40 out of the 2,100 North American schools nominated in a rigorous selection process.

The program's director, Sean Harris, will take a group of 19 students to perform and produce an original play written by Hall High alumnus Matt Macca.

West Hartford’s own Janelle Robinson, fresh from Mary Poppins on Broadway, provided entertainment at the reception.

Amy and Norm Young, the current residents of the former Hepburn homestead, hosted the reception.
