Cheesecake Factory to Donate Today's Tips to Sandy Hook Victims

The Cheesecake Factory in West Hartford's Blue Back Square will hold a fundraiser throughout the day on Jan. 2, with 100 percent of all tips collected donated to the "My Sandy Hook Family Fund."

The Cheesecake Factory in Danbury will also donate all tips earned on Wednesday.

"The staff wanted to do something to help out, and together we decided to do this," said Juan Huezo, manager at the Blue Back Square restaurant.

Huezo said staff at the two Connecticut restaurants hope to raise between $6,000 and $7,000 from the fundraiser.

The My Sandy Hook Family Fund was established to assist the families of victims in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Fund directors hope to raise $2.6 million by the end of 2013 – $100,000 for each victims' family.
