Demolition Has Begun on Parking Garage in Marshalls Plaza

Demolition has started on the former Adams Supermarket parking garage next to Marshalls at Bishop’s Corner and will last for about a month, according to EDENS, the development company renovating the Marshalls shopping plaza.

In addition, the parking lot renovation work started earlier this month and will continue through November.

EDENS Communications Director Ryan Panitz said that as a safety precaution, the portion of Sims Road closest to the parking garage will be closed, with no through traffic, during this time period.

“All work is limited to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday,” said Panitz, who added that “dust mitigation procedures are in place as well.”

All of the businesses in the shopping area are open during this redevelopment, noted Panitz. Eventually, a Neighborhood Market by Wal-Mart — the first in the Northeast — will open in the space once occupied by Adams.

“The development of the parking garage at Bishop’s Corner is another major step in our redevelopment of this retail center. By creating more convenient parking in the area, we are better connecting our customers with our retailers,” said Jodie McLean, EDENS president, in an earlier statement.
