Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims at West Hartford's Big Y

Big Y is partnering with the Red Cross for disaster relief.

Connecticut residents who want to give back to Oklahomans devastated by the recent tornado can head to the West Hartford Big Y to help out!

A press release from the Red Cross explains that donation containers for the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund will be placed at all Big Y stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts until June 8.

“People affected by disasters rely on the American Red Cross and the American people for help,” said American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region CEO Mario Bruno in the release.

“Thanks to the generosity of Big Y, its customers and employees, the Red Cross will have the resources to provide much needed shelter, food and water, clean up supplies, health services and emotional support.”

Big Y customers have given back during other recent natural disasters, as well. A total of $108,277.32 was given to people in Haiti affected by the 2010 earthquake and another $100,000 to the victims of the tsunami in Japan, the release said.
