Maximum Beverage To Hold Grand Opening

Dotcom Wines has changed its name, and moved across the street to open an expanded beer, wine, and spirit store in Marshall's Plaza in Bishop's Corner.

– formerly Dotcom Wines – opened the doors to its expansive new beer, wine, and spirits store in the Marshall's Plaza in Bishop's Corner on April 2, and will be holding a grand opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.

"We've taken the selection and customer service with us," said Seth Goldstein of Maximum Beverage. However, the larger space allows for an even greater selection.

Goldstein highlighted the new store's interactive technology as a feature that sets it apart from the competition. "We have some user-friendly technology that will help the customers navigate the store, and choose food/wine pairings," Goldstein said.

Maximum Beverage also offers a "call ahead" service, with white and sparkling wines properly chilled when the customer arrives for pick-up.

The Grand Opening will include a ribbon-cutting officiated by Mayor Scott Slifka at 4 p.m. The day's activities also include:

11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Live WCCC radio broadcast "Wines that Rock" tasting featuring Steal Your Face Red Blend and Dark Side of the Moon Cab

1-3 p.m.: Sam Adams beer tasting scheduled to appear: ESPN’s Colin Cowherd and "Chasing Classic Cars" Wayne Carini

3-4 p.m.: Veuve Clicquot tasting/toast

5-7 p.m.: Hotel California tequila mixology

A portion of all proceeds from the day’s sales will go to Autism Speaks and Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

The store includes an expanded wine and spirits section, and claims to have the largest beer inventory in the area at very competitive prices.

I hope they do better than when it was Dot Com. I already see some of the same problems as before; 1. "Virtual" inventory of wines they do not carry but offer anyways to capture your business. 2. A young staff that reads lots of books but doesn't have any real world experience in wine. 3. "Discounts" are not really discounts when you still overcharge for many of the wines offered for less elsewhere...there is a reason the owner has at least one Ferrari. 4. I tried the "technology" today and it was very slow and not intuitive...takes more time to use than just my iPhone. I hope they can fix these problems soon as I can tell a lot of money was spent trying to dazzle customers. Please remember that changing does not erase the issues you had at Dot Com; it does give you another chance however. Good Luck.

David- We appreciate your feedback in response to the grand opening of Maximum Beverage. Please allow us to address your comments. 1. If you visit our website (www.maximumbev.com), you will notice that our inventory is real time. At times, the vintage may be incorrect. But, if the product is listed we have it available in the store. 2. We are very proud of the staff we have in place. They include Stephen Maturo, who has over 12 years of wine and spirits experience in both the retail, hospitality, and distribution channels. David Wright has his sommelier certification and ran Dean and Deluca of Georgetown (an iconic wine and spirits retailer), Seth Goldstein who has been working in the wine and spirits industry for over 16 years on both the supplier and wholesale side of the business, Conor Whitney who has over 5 years of retail experience, and Tim Rooney has been involved in the retail aspect of the wine and spirits industry for over 6 years. Furthermore, one of the owners of Maximum Beverage has been a wine collector for 30+ years. Not a bad team we would say! 3. Quite simply, our technology sets us apart from all other retaiilers. From our interactive wine discovery center to our smart end cap kiosks, the customers shopping experience will be enhanced and maximized at Maximum Beverage. 4. Lastly, our pricing is very competitive. With over 300 items priced at state minimum. Please come back and give us another try. Thanks!

I went in to maximum beverage the other day and boy the place is beautiful, never seen anything like it. Super friendly staff who seem very willing to help you out and one of the best selections I've ever seen. Their technology is impressive as well. This is just the type of store west Hartford has always needed.

I loved DotCom, they were always very helpful and courteous. Went into the new store, and placed a special order. It was within a couple dollars of what I could find it on line, and was a two day delivery; this is on a $200 odd-ball item. Very happy to have them in the Marshall's plaza.

I Went to dotcom and the sign said they had moved across the street. What a change. It's as big as Crazy Bruce and Connecticut Beverage, looks more like Lux Bond and Green than a wine and spirits store, and the prices are great. They were sampling wine this afternoon so I tried a couple of reds. I shopped here ocassionally before.... this will become by go to store going forward. Bishops Corner should be very excited.

Does Colin cowherd have ownership? If so, I'll shop there regularly, that guy is the greatest guy on espn!

I am really impressed with the new store! Dotcom wines has supported our nonprofit AIDS organization so I make a point to shop there regularly. Now with the beautiful new store and friendly staff I LOVE the experience! Congrats on a great store...
