New Children's Museum CEO Welcomed at Pond House Reception

Bob Griesmer, the former CEO of the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, is positioned to lead the Children's Museum into an exciting future.

Bob Griesmer has been at his new job as CEO of for about a month, and he told a crowd of board members and supporters at his welcome reception Tuesday night at the just how excited he is about the opportunity to work with such a fine organization.

Griesmer previously served as chief operating officer for the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, a 147,000 sq. ft. $40 million dollar aquarium, museum and IMAX theater complex. According to a release from The Children's Museum, Griesmer "is credited with having expanded its attendance from approximately 375,000 to nearly 600,000. He brought the exclusive New England appearance of Titanic Science: The Real Artifacts, the True Stories that garnered national attention to the Maritime Aquarium in 2002."

Griesmer was officially welcomed by Glenn Cunningham, Co-Chair of Friends of The Children’s Museum, and , board president.

Griesmer replaces , who left in January to serve as commissioner of revenue for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. Don Peterson served as interim director until Griesmer's appointment.
