Readers' Choice: Favorite Liquor Store

Where in West Hartford will you stock up on wine, beer and spirits for the holiday weekend?

When summer kicks off next weekend, a few things change: the weather gets warmer, the days get longer and the tonic water flies off the grocery store shelves as G&T season begins.

Most of us have a favorite spot for stocking up on beer, wine and spirits for those summer barbecues and outdoor parties. Where do you go for the best advice, the best prices and the friendliest service?

We have included some of the obvious choices in West Hartford. If we've overlooked any please include them in comments.

The poll closes Friday at 9 a.m., and we'll announce the winner on Saturday.

Readers' Choice is all about you — your ideas, your feedback and your voice — so we hope you will chime in and post your reviews of local businesses by clicking on the links above.

One of the the most complete liquor stores in the area is Parkview Wine and Sprits 229 Park Road. Richard P.

Harvest - by far my favorite. Plus: beer cave FTW

Parkview and Harvest are both great, smae with Cork and Bottle.. but you can fit them all inside the new Maximum Beverage store and still have room to shop. Maximum Beverage is the nicest wine shop I have been to, it is large and spacey with the best selection out there. They also have a 40 foot wall of beer fridges offering every beer I have seen in CT, those fridges are 10 feet deep too so you can go inside of a beer cavern instead of a little cave.

If I am closer to West Hartford I just drive to Toast Wines. The structure of the whole store gives a nice feeling including the easy natured staff. Wine Lover

You click the radio button of your selection and then hit submit below. If you dont see the radio buttons, you may have to hit 'Home' and then go that screen again - if not closing the browser and reopening will work. Hope this helps AM

I do not need to have every bottle of wine ever produced available to me. If there is something special I want, any place will usually order it. What I do want is someone to greet me nicely and ask if I would like some help. You get these in the smaller venues, not the larger ones..

Conveniently located in the Center of West Hartford. Toast Wines by Taste offers a unique selection of wines with a very helpful staff and friendly service makes it a place to visit more often. Their Saturday wine tastings are always fun. Cheers!!!

Toast is a cute store, I just don't like that you have to pay for parking, there's zero selection or spirits, and everything is over priced, I can't understand why harvest hasn't been nominated, great neighborhood shop, no park view either?

I disagree Ive actually been treated better in some of the larger stores in town, in comparison to som of the smaller stores in town that hav a tendency to be a Little stuffy or high brow

Please feel free to nominate any store that isn't already listed. They were missing from our directory, which is the only reason they weren't already included.

Yes I do agree that parking in general is no exception for any shop in that plaza and do respect your opinion about harvest- but at the same time the first 30 minutes are no cost in Parking Plaza as well. So if you only want to go to Toast for wine or spirit (they do have decent collection from what I have seen and purchased) then there wouldnt be any parking cost. So It is pretty much the same if you were to go to any other isolated wine shop (with free parking).
