Footwear purchases cross town lines, so we've combined our results.

Our readership apparently isn't passionate about shoes, so we had no clear winner, but we did have a number of nominations from towns across the region.

In the Enfield area, readers liked their local , which was also mentioned in other towns.

Readers also mentioned and , which both have stores in Manchester.

"I love shoes as a fashion choice," said reader Patricia Niosi. "Macy's is great place to buy them and DSW, and online I love Zappos.com - with Zappos you get free shipping even for returns and you have 365 days to return."

Readers in West Hartford also mentioned and at Westfarms mall.

"With Nordstrom, you can order online, have them shipped for no fee, and return to the store, which expands your options," said Amystery726.

Thanks for your nominations, and don't forget to post your reviews of these businesses in our Patch directory (click on the links in blue above). On Monday, our category is "Best Places to Get Your Taxes Done," so check back for the chance to nominate your favorite.

I think this shows the overall trend to online shopping, even for items with fitting issues such as shoes. For me, it's Zappos.com or Eastbay.com for my kids. Zappos ships free the next day, and Eastbay gives me 25% off every order with my membership. Factor in the driving time and time spent shopping in a local mall, and the savings are even bigger.
