The Silver Dahlia Opens in West Hartford Center

Casual jewelry and accessory store offers high quality and affordable options in popular brands.

West Hartford Center shoppers now have a new casual jewelry and accessory store offering popular styles from brands including Alex and Ani, Vera Bradley, Vineyard Vines, Sloane Ranger, Spartina 449, and Crabtree & Evelyn.

The Silver Dahlia opened quietly at 970 Farmington Ave. on Tuesday, but owner Kim Reid said she plans a grand opening in a few weeks.

Reid opened her first Silver Dahlia store in Glastonbury in 2009. "It's been so-far-so-good in Glastonbury, so we decided to come across the river. I love this town!" Reid said.

Reid got her start in retail when she owned a gourmet Italian food store, but she sold the business when she decided to start a family. She returned to the workforce in her father's real estate business, but "got the itch for retail again," she said.

The Silver Dahlia is probably best known for its sterling silver and accessories, and Reid said that the biggest sellers are probably their wide selection of Alex and Ani products. They also have an extensive selection of troll beads.

The Glastonbury store attracts customers of all ages – mostly women – from "ages 5 to 80," Reid said. She believes the store will be a good fit for West Hartford Center.

"We are a fairly-priced store. Come in to grab an easy gift. We offer free gift-wrapping," she said.

The Silver Dahlia is located at 970 Farmington Ave., in the former site of Kuboo's. The store will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. They will be closed on Mondays.

Hi Barbara, We are so sorry this happened. Last night we added 200 sites to our great new BetaRead More platform and we think that made our newsletter server go haywire. Our engineers are hard at work to fix this bug and we are hopeful that things will be much smoother on Thursday.
