Thirty5 Bar & Grille Closes for Business

Sign on the door thanks customers for their patronage.

Just six months after Thirty5 Bar & Grille opened for business, the West Hartford Center restaurant and night spot owned by Brian Hersh has closed.

A sign on the door Friday afternoon thanked customers for their patronage. The windows are covered with paper.

"We are now closed for business. Thank you and good luck," is the message on the restaurant's answering machine.

Thirty5 Bar & Grille opened on Oct. 8, 2012, a reincarnation of Reuben's Deli which added dinner and late night options and a full bar, in addition to the breakfast and lunch favorites that had been the restaurant's staples.

That opening had been delayed by a fire at the rear of the 35a LaSalle Rd. space in the early morning hours of July 10 that caused fairly extensive damage to the premises. At the time, Hersh was just weeks away from the planned Aug. 1 transformation of Reuben's into Thirty5.

The restaurant had closed for renovations in June. Hersh had received a $47,500 grant loan from Connecticut's Small Business Express (EXP) program that was being used to convert the business.

Hersh could not be reached for comment.
