Blue Back Square Pulls In Three New Businesses

A wine bar, bridesmaid boutique and gift shop are coming this fall.

Three new businesses will open this fall in , adding to the vibrant mix of destination places in West Hartford.

Vinted, a wine bar and restaurant serving lunch and dinner, is expected to open the second week of September, according to Barbara Lerner, project marketing manager for Blue Back Square. It will occupy the space of the wine-tasting bistro Uncorked, which closed in January after a year and a half in business, at 63 Memorial Road.

Vinted’s owner, Ralph Santaniello, is an experienced restaurateur who co-owns The Federal Restaurant in Agawam, MA, Lerner said.

, now located at 8 Crossroads Plaza in Bishop’s Corner, is moving next to , on Isham Road. Lerner said the gift shop should be ready to open by Nov. 1. No further information was available as the store is closed until Aug. 21.

Bella Bridesmaid, which sells “sassy and chic” bridesmaid dresses, will be located on Memorial Road, and is planning for an opening date in mid-September, said Madison Ross, who is co-owner with her mother Maribeth Ross. The franchise store originated in San Francisco and now has locations across the U.S., with the only Connecticut store in Westport, also owned by the Rosses.

The West Hartford boutique will carry about eight designer bridesmaid dresses, said Madison, and dresses can be custom made. While mainly a store for bridesmaids, the shop will also feature three bridal designers: Saja, Nicole Miller and Ivy and Aster. Ross said the bridal dresses are for the bride looking for an alternative to the traditional bridal gown.

Besides Westport, the next closest Bella Bridesmaid is in Boston, said Ross, so she hopes this store will provide “high-end, yet affordable” bridesmaid dresses to area customers.

"We feel Blue Back Square is a beautiful location,” said Ross. “We are so excited to be in West Hartford.”

Lerner said in the next few weeks, she is hoping to announce two or three additional new businesses to Blue Back Square.

“It’s all good news,” she said.
