Tory Burch Opens Friday at Westfarms

The opening of Central Connecticut’s first Tory Burch store will take place on Friday at Westfarms Mall, bringing area fashionistas the high-end American sportswear brand’s full collection just in time for the fall season.

The opening of the Tory Burch store was first announced by Westfarms management last fall, and the upscale retailer will be located on Westfarms’ Center Court upper level, in the spot formerly occupied by Solstice and Munsons, and not far from other luxury shops Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton.

Tory Burch’s only other Connecticut store is in Greenwich.

The Westfarms location will showcase the brand’s entire collection of ready-to-wear clothing as well as handbags, shoes, small leather goods, eyewear, accessories, and swimwear, according to a news release.

“We are more than thrilled to see Tory Burch enter the Central Connecticut market with this beautiful new store at Westfarms,” Westfarms General Manager Kevin Keenan said in the release. “The Tory Burch brand exemplifies the Westfarms female shopper’s wish list and is a perfect fit, complementing our exceptional retail lineup,” Keenan said.

Keenan added that the timing of the store’s opening “couldn’t be better” as the mall’s fall shopping season begins in earnest in August and the holiday season is just around the corner.

“We have some great momentum going forward,” Keenan said Thursday. “Tory Burch was a great find.”

Keenan said that while Westfarms has recently added several luxury brands, the mall will continue to provide a mix of retailers in response to the demands of the market. “I don’t envision this shopping center becoming entirely luxury,” he said.

According to the company’s website, “Tory Burch is an American sportswear brand with a classic yet modern sensibility distinguished by a global and eclectic aesthetic.  It embodies the style and spirit of its CEO and designer Tory Burch.” The brand was launched in 2004, and is carried in more than 1,000 department and specialty stores throughout the world as well as Tory Burch stores in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia.

Tory Burch at Westfarms will be open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Westfarms is currently undergoing renovation and updating in several areas, including the seating areas and the entrance near California Pizza Kitchen. All work should be completed by late October or early November, Keenan said, in plenty of time for the holiday season.

News about additional retailers should be forthcoming soon, including a firm date for the opening of the expanded Forever 21 store on the lower level near Macy’s.
