West Hartford Business Buzz April 7: Openings, Closings and Other News

A round-up of West Hartford business news.

Welcome to this week's installment of West Hartford Business Buzz!

People in West Hartford love to be "in the know" about happenings in town, especially the openings — and closings — of local businesses. We hear things all the time, and some of them turn into big stories. But sometimes we don't have enough news to write an entire story, even though the information is definitely newsworthy. For a while we ran a "Visions for Vacancies" feature on Sundays, but it was getting to be difficult to find vacancies every week.

Every Sunday we'll highlight the business stories you may have missed during the past week, and give you the scoop on the other news you may not have heard about. And if you have tips about businesses opening or closing, please include them in the comments or send an email to ronni.newton@patch.com.

  • La Perla Fine Jewelers re-opened Friday at its new location, 1000 Farmington Ave., in West Hartford Center. This is the third location for Bob La Perla's store in the more than 20 years he has had his West Hartford business. La Perla was most recently in Blue Back Square. For more information call 860-232-3381.
  • A tip from a reader clued us in that Pho 68 just opened last week at 589 New Park Ave. Has anyone been there yet? Please share your experiences!
  • Many people have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Sliders in Elmwood, in the same plaza as Stop & Shop and Crazy Bruce's. The restaurant, a favorite of wings connoisseurs, had originally hoped to be open in time for March Madness. The latest word is that a late May/early June opening is planned.
