West Hartford Business Buzz: Hearty Kitchen Opens; Cultivating Happiness

New business opens

Hearty Kitchen had a soft opening over the weekend! The first customers had signed up to dine on an email list distributed some time ago but a neat offer was extended via Facebook.

Owners Justin and Irina Lovelace spread the word about available seats for Sunday brunch on the Hearty Kitchen Facebook page, so be to sure to give the page a ‘like’ to stay up-to-date on Hearty’s happenings.

The restaurant, located at 280 Park Rd., West Hartford, is described on its Facebook page as “all natural comfort food made from scratch, featuring organic fried chicken, hearty stews, soups, salads and other farm and country inspired dishes.”

Need a summer job?

The town of West Hartford is accepting candidates for its aquatic supervisor position. According to the Friends of Fernridge Park Facebook page, the seasonal position pays $18 to $21 an hour and applications will be accepted until Feb. 28.

Giving a little, get a little

Ten Thousand Villages in West Hartford is collecting donations for the West Hartford Food Pantry. Anyone who brings a donation to Ten Thousand Village will receive a coupon toward 25 percent off an item, according to the Ten Thousand Village Facebook page.


Cultivating happiness

Sharon Salzberg, cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society, is coming to West Hartford Yoga and speaking on “Meditation: Real Happiness at Work.” The event will take place on Saturday, March 1. Visit the Facebook event for more information.


Save the Date

The Elmwood Community Center will celebrate 35 years with a May 3 celebration. The ‘save the date’ announcement was made on the center’s Facebook page.
