West Hartford Company Collaborates on ESPN Coverage of Open Championship

Bluefoot Entertainment produced coverage that will air throughout the Open Championship in Muirfield.

As the world's greatest golfers tackle a challenging course at the British Open Golf Championship in Muirfield, Gullane, Scotland, West Hartford's contribution to the event is being showcased on ESPN.

Bluefoot Entertainment, which is based in West Hartford with offices on the second floor of 977 Farmington Ave., has been producing high-end promotions, teases, essays, and documentaries for ESPN and other clients for nearly a decade.

This is the sixth year that Bluefoot has worked with ESPN on coverage of the Open Championship, and the company's essays, bumps, and opening sequences will continue throughout the duration of the tournament.

To create the videos, a team from Bluefoot spent time earlier this year traveling throughout the country. According to a release from the company, the team traveled over a thousand miles during the month of April – from Edinburgh, to Aberdeen and Inverness – to capture the "unique faces and places" that make up the country of Scotland.

The Scottish culture and history is featured through the essays, which intertwine images of bagpipers, kilt-making, the "famous Military Tattoo," Scotch whiskey, and a haunted castle, into a visual tour of the country, all narrated by British actor Ian McShane. ESPN's Wright Thompson wrote the script.

"We have been so lucky to travel to Scotland and England on many occasions to cover the Open Championship," Bluefoot founder, Timothy Horgan who directed, edited, and produced the Scotland shoots said in the release.

"We've been to every corner of Britain and have always showcased the natural beauty and majestic landscapes that vary so much from region to region. So this year, at Muirfield, it was a real treat for us to finally tell the story of the people of Scotland and their unique way of life and history. We hope you enjoy watching, as much as we've enjoyed putting the pieces together."
