A group of Connecticut contractors – and business competitors – are joining forces to donate their talents, time, and materials this month to completely renovate the dressing room area for Dress for Success Hartford in time to celebrate the organization’s 15th anniversary. The nonprofit organization provides professional attire, resources, and mentoring to women from across the state.

Renovations have already begun, and will continue throughout April. Contractors donating their time include: Avon Plumbing & Heating, CarpetWorks (Manchester), Cyclone Home Systems (Berlin and Manchester), Freeland Bros. Construction, Inc. (East Berlin),House of Hanbury Builders, Inc. (Newington), Liljedahl Bros., Inc. (West Hartford), David Litchfield Building & Remodeling (Farmington), Morgan Contracting, Inc. (Avon), Maher’s Paint & Wallpaper, LLC (Avon), and Schneider’s Flooring America (Vernon).

The Homebuilders & Remodelers Association of Greater Hartford has organized a team of contractors to renovate Dress for Success Hartford’s dressing room, including adding new flooring, sturdy steel pipe partitions for fitting areas, shelving for apparel, shoes and accessories, plus new carpeting.

“When we learned about their mission and visited the space, we knew immediately that our members would be interested in donating their time,” said Eric Person, the Executive Officer of the Homebuilders & Remodelers Association of Greater Hartford.

“This renovation will expand the number of fitting rooms from three to five, so we can serve more clients at a time,” said Sara Avatapalli, Executive Director of Dress for Success Hartford, which is located in prime downtown Hartford real estate donated by Grunberg Realty.

“We are so grateful that these contractors have come together to create an inspiring space for our clients as they begin their path to self-sufficiency.”   In addition to the contractors, Pilgrim Furniture City is donating furniture and fabric that will divide the fitting areas, and a group of Dress for Success Hartford volunteers will be painting the entire space.
