AMERICAN FINE CRAFT SHOW NYC & CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR NYC BOASTS 11 ARTISTS AND ARTISANS WHO HAIL FROM CONNECTICUT—ONE FROM WEST HARTFORD

American Fine Craft Show NYC and Contemporary Art Fair NYC will fill the natural light-saturated Javits Center North with the work of some 185 artisans and artists October 25, 26 and 27, 2013. Eleven—three artisans and eight artists--hail from Connecticut and one Elizabeth Krall, from West Hartford. “The exhibitors achieve remarkable effects using innovative techniques in their approach to ceramics, decorative and fine arts as well as jewelry and fashion,” said Richard Rothbard, owner of American Art Marketing, who with his wife, Joanna Rothbard, founded and produces the annual juried New York City fall event.

“In its fourth year, the exhibitors’ work reflects a design theme with texture throughout on soft and hard surfaces, decorative pieces, fashion accessories and fine art,” noted Rothbard. “Sponsored by An American Craftsman Galleries, its timing, a month before Hanukah, is ideal for finding perfect gifts.” The Rothbards also own the Galleries located in Manhattan, Stockbridge, Mass. and Savannah, Ga.

Joining artisans exhibiting jewelry, fashion and accessories as well as furniture, ceramics, glass, wood, metal and textiles at the Craft Show are painters, photographers, sculptors and artists working in mixed media at the Art Fair. “For the first time,” said Rothbard, “we are inviting artists to hang artwork or display sculpture in the Red Wall Gallery at the entrance to the show.”

Among various demonstrations pottery will take center stage with an opportunity for kids and adults to try their hand and leave with a finished piece under the guidance of instructors from Mud, Sweat & Tears Potters. “Some visitors will be inspired to adopt a new hobby,” he said.

The Rothbards, who have directed craft shows for 30+ years, also produce two annual Berkshires Arts Festivals in July and the Sarasota Craft Show in December. This December 14-15, they are launching the American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Museum.
