City of Hartford, Partners Premiere Hartford Has It Promotional Video at Spotlight Theatres

Video now available online for public enjoyment and use by supporters

(Hartford, CT) October 11, 2013 - On Thursday evening at Spotlight Theatres in Downtown Hartford, the City of Hartford and MetroHartford Alliance, along with the Hartford Business Improvement District (Hartford BID) and the Capital Region Development Authority, premiered the promotional video for Hartford Has It.  A campaign which creates a positive and relevant message about Connecticut's Capital City, Hartford Has It inspires city and regional residents alike to identify with Hartford, to appreciate its array of assets and to have a sense of pride about it and the Greater Hartford Region.

Hartford Has It, manifest in the Hartford BID banner program throughout the Downtown and the neighborhoods of Hartford, was born of a process, several years in the making, investigating new marketing initiatives for the city.  Once the campaign, originated by the Hartford BID, was adopted by stakeholders, the MetroHartford Alliance spearheaded the creation of a promotional video for the campaign in partnership with representatives of the City of Hartford, private sector, nonprofit organizations and Hartford's neighborhoods.

“Many people and organizations deserve recognition and appreciation for their efforts over the past year in developing the Hartford Has It tag line and the new video," said Oz Griebel, President and Chief Executive Officer of the MetroHartford Alliance.  "The phrase builds on the successful 'Rising Star' effort of the past decade and has captured the imagination and enthusiasm of City residents as well as business, civic, and political leaders.  The video will be a great resource in promoting Hartford’s rich inventory of assets to those who work and live in the City, to those in the I-91 corridor looking for a night or weekend out, to convention attendees and visitors, and to those who relocate here for employment and education opportunities.  We’re very excited about the potential of this new marketing campaign for both the City and the Region.”

Griebel opened the speaking portion of the evening and acknowledged The Pita Group, a creative firm specializing in marketing, interactive and media production, for its work on the video.  Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra welcomed singer Brownbird Rudy Relic, who wrote and performed the song featured in the video, and introduced the Hartford Has It promotional piece to the crowd, which had followed a red-carpeted route to the theatre.

"I want to thank all of the partners who worked diligently to push this important project forward," said Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra.  "Our passion for Hartford created a great campaign that inspires those who live, work and play here and those who want to."

The video was presented to enthusiastic applause and is now available for public enjoyment and use by supporters at Hartford.com/HartfordHasIt, an established marketing portal for Hartford and the myriad events, activities and happenings in the city throughout the year.
