End Hunger Connecticut! Welcomes Four New Board Members

Statewide anti-hunger and food security organization to benefit from expertise of community advocates and child nutrition specialists

End Hunger Connecticut!, a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization, with headquarters in Hartford, today announced the addition of four new Board members: Dr. Madhu Mather, Nicole Berube, Monica Stellmacher and Camille Livsey.  Each brings to the Board extensive experience working as community advocates.  Many have also led efforts to improve access to nutritious foods for Connecticut residents impacted by food insecurity.

Madhu Mathur, MD, MPH, is an Obesity Medicine Physician and a Pediatrician at Stamford Hospital.  A Board-Certified Obesity Consultant, she is the creator of KIDS’FANS (KIDS Fitness and Nutrition Services), a highly effective behavioral modification and lifestyle intervention program which offers nutrition education and physical activity.

Nicole Berube is Executive Director of CitySeed, Inc., a New Haven-based organization committed to improving food access and farm viability.  CitySeed, Inc. created one of the first farmer’s markets in Connecticut to accept EBT for SNAP recipients and is a long-time End Hunger Connecticut! partner.

Monica Stellmacher is the Lead Parent Coordinator for CREC Choice Academy in Hartford.  A graduate of the Encore Leadership program, she is passionate about increasing children’s access to nutritious foods through federal nutrition programs such as school breakfast, school lunch and after-school snacks/suppers.

Camille Livsey is a Consulting Services Manager for The Technology Group, a division of Whittlesey & Hadley, P.C.  A frequent presenter for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, she has extensive experience managing data and financial records for nonprofits.

“We are excited to expand our Board and collaborate with community advocates who share our commitment to improving access to nutritious foods for all Connecticut residents,” Lucy Nolan, Executive Director, End Hunger Connecticut!, said. “The addition of their skills and expertise will allow us to continue educating our constituents about and advocating for policies that address hunger’s direct connections with childhood obesity and the achievement gap.”
