OVER $20,000 RAISED AT THE 5TH ANNUAL CENTRAL CT PET FAIR, DOG WALK & 5K ROAD RACE

The Connecticut Humane Society, in partnership with The Meriden Rotary Foundation, is pleased to announce that this year’s Central CT Pet Fair, Dog Walk & 5K Road Race raised over $20,000, and that number is continuing to grow.

The event day was a hot one but the Grand Marshal, FOXCT Meteorologist Rachel Frank, assured the organizers that the showers would hold off until after the event, which they did! Over 40 vendors, animal welfare groups, pet demonstrations and other activities provided an abundant amount of entertainment for attendees of the event.

“It has been a great first-year in our partnership with the Meriden Rotary on the Central CT Pet Fair,” said Priscilla Clark, Development Specialist for the Connecticut Humane Society. “We look forward to growing this exciting event even more next year, to benefit CT Humane Society’s crucial programs and services for homeless pets and the important work done by the Meriden Rotary Foundation.”

Over 150 runners and walkers played a large part in fundraising for the event. The event’s top fundraising team, See Spot Run, raised over $2,700! All funds raised will help support the charitable programs of the Meriden Rotary Foundation, as well as benefit the programs and services of the Connecticut Humane Society.

The organizers would like to thank their lead sponsors: Bayer Animal Health, East Side Veterinary Clinic, Lake Financial Services, Premier Pet Wash, Canine Company, Edward Zavaski Agency, Labrada Nutrition, Stanger & Arnold and Star Auto sales for their generous support and Chabaso Bakery, GU, Labrada Nutrition and NOW Snack bars, who provided product donations for the event.

The event has grown substantially since its debut in 2009 with more 5K runners, dog walkers, vendors and attendees each year. Planning is well underway for the 2014 Central Connecticut Pet Fair, Dog Walk & Road Race.
