University of Saint Joseph President to Chair Board of CT Conference of Independent Colleges

The Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC) announced the appointment of University of Saint Joseph President Pamela Trotman Reid, Ph.D., as Chair of its Board of Directors for 2013-2014.  Founded in 1932, CCIC represents 16 accredited nonprofit independent colleges and universities in Connecticut.

“I am thrilled to have Dr. Reid as the new CCIC chair,” said Judy Greiman, president of the CCIC.  “Pam so clearly understands the needs of students, as well as the economic needs of Connecticut, and successfully links the two.  The development of the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy in downtown Hartford is a perfect example of her vision of service to the campus and the community. I look forward to working with her on the higher education issues of the day.”

“I am honored to lead the CCIC board, especially during a time when our educational institutions are working harder and better than ever to produce an engaged, creative and skills-based work force that will lead Connecticut’s economic future,” said Dr. Reid.

Pamela Trotman Reid, Ph.D., became the eighth President of the University of Saint Joseph in January, 2008. Since taking office she has worked to build upon the University's reputation for academic excellence and ensure its commitment to integrity, women’s leadership, and service. She initiated and successfully launched the University’s first professional doctoral program by creating a School of Pharmacy in downtown Hartford, a move that has garnered widespread acclaim from the Greater Hartford community. Under her leadership, the size of the graduate program in education tripled with the introduction of off-site classes throughout Connecticut; the program for adult learners was refocused; and undergraduate women's programs have gained increased recognition for excellence and student success.
