As A Twig Is Bent, So Grows The Tree: Why It's MUCH More Than Bad Posture?

Most healthcare professionals focus on posture exclusively, which is great and MOST (not all) miss the most important component. And further more MOST (not all) don't even know what they are missing. Find out why?

Most women who present to my office do not want the dowagers hump (granny hump) that they have seen on their mothers and grandmothers. Which, unfortunately is becoming ever more prevalent in our society that is addicted to electronic gadgets that make us look down for hours on end.

And for good reason - this posture is unattractive and more importantly an indicator of poor health and which you might not know early demise.

So, who corrects posture?

Dr. Mom, admonishing you to sit up straight, PT's, Personal Trainers, Cross-fit,Yoga and Traditional Chiropractors.  And they all do it very well, I have know doubt.

Is Posture more than skin deep?

To anymone who really knows anatomy, for example Structural Chiropractors and  Neurosurgeons - correcting posture has little to NO affect on correcting the inner frame work of your body - your spine.

How can that be?

It is always amazing to my patients(not me) that are Yoga instructors, trainers and even other health care doctors in a variety of medical fields, when I show them their own Structural X-rays of their spine and they are horrible - but with good posture.

I usually see, moderate to severe damaged (degenerative) discs, damaged (degenerated) vertebrae, Nerve Impingement and chronic Muscular Spasm - with people who have been trying hard to keep good posture.

The problem and this is a BIG Problem ...correcting posture does not translate into correcting your structure.

But why?

There is a normal range for your spine, just like a normal range for blood pressure, normal range for cholesterol and a normal range for body temperature. There is also a normal shape of your spine from the front (anterior) and side (lateral).

If you are outside the normal range AND have abnormal symmetry of the inner frame work - no amount of training muscle will correct this - simply because the problem is with your ligaments, bones and nervous system.

With this in mind; yoga, cross-fit, and your trainer can not ever correct structure. So you end up with a pretty package (posture) yet the gift (your inner frame work that protects your nervous system, nerves, etc) - not so much.

Now, I did not say that Yoga, Crossfit, PT or Traditional Chiropractors are bad. No I did not. I in fact recommend some Yoga, Crossfit, and Trainers and PT's and even some (not all ) traditional Chiropractors.

And the medical (even other chiropractors)professionals that refer to me KNOW that what we focus on is NOT done by anyone else. They know I correct the Structure of your spine.

You see abnormal Structure causes many Secondary Conditions or symptoms including in this case posture. While most professional focus on the Secondary Condition of abnormal posture we focus on the underlying cause - the Primary Condition. Which is a Structural deviation called Anterior Head Syndrome.

As we correct your Primary Underlying Condition of Anterior Head Syndrome, this helps to correct your Secondary Condition of abnormal posture. Of course we also give you complementary recommendations (things to do AND not to do) that enhance the care we offer.

How do you know if you have a Primary Structural Condition like Anterior Head Syndrome?

These are the scientifically proven ways that indicate a structural condition.

Damaged (Degenerated) discs
Damaged (Degenerated) vertebrae
Chronic Muscle Spasm Tension
Anterior Head Syndrome
Nerve Impingement Syndrome

If you have just one indicator, then you have a structural condition that needs to be addressed - Normal Structure IS NOT An Option. More then one indicators, increases the severity of your Primary Condition.
