Daily Five: Debate Viewing, Local History, Flu Shots

Five things you need to know about in West Hartford on Oct. 15, 2012.

1. Tomorrow is the second presidential debate, which many people think will swing the election one way or the other. Patch is having a debate viewing party at the Lime Bar in Avon, starting at 8 p.m., so join us if you can.

2. Did you know that First Church of Christ Congregational — a landmark in the center — is actually older than the town itself? The church is launching its 300th anniversary year with a series of events, including a food drive.

3. Have you gotten your flu shot yet? If not, you can join ProHealth Physicians at NBC Connecticut Studios today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a free flu clinic and health fair. Yes, that's right, free flu shots for those 18 and older. You can even get a tour of the studios.

4. It's Cooks & Books at the West Hartford library at 6:30 p.m., this time featuring Bill Rizzuto, owner of Rizzuto's. It's a chance to hear top area chefs talk about their favorite cookbooks.
