Gas Line Struck in West Hartford

Construction crews hit a gas line Friday morning on Boulevard.

No injuries or evacuations resulted from a gas line which was broken Friday morning by a construction crew on Boulevard in West Hartford, according to Battalion Chief William Kall.

According to Kall, the construction crew working on the sewer project on Boulevard struck a 1/2 inch lateral line connected to a home at 1676 Boulevard.

"There is a flow preventer. If it senses free flow of gas it automatically shuts off. The flow stopped almost as soon as it was hit," Kall said. Service has been affected only at that one house.
