Halloween Stroll Will Take Place Saturday in Blue Back Square

West Hartford's 11th Annual Halloween Stroll and Pumpkin Carnival will take place Saturday, and several roads will be closed for the duration of the event.

Now in its 11th year, the annual Moms & More Halloween Stroll will be held this Saturday, Oct. 27, in and around Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

Children are asked to attend the Halloween Stroll in costume, and will have the opportunity for trick-or-treating at participating Blue Back Square and West Hartford Center merchants.

According to organizers, there will also be a West Hartford Fire Department apparatus for the kids to climb on, live music by Carrie Johnson, professional photography by Kathryn Deane Photography, kids’ games and fantastic giveaways.

Local mascots Pucky the Whale, Rocky the Rockcat, Howey the Hawk, and Woofer from The River 105.9 will also be on hand for meet and greets.

The event will begin with a Pumpkin Carnival in the Whole Foods Market parking lot from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by trick-or-treating from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The West Hartford Police Department would like to inform all residents that certain roads in the area will be closed beginning at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday to ensure the safety of event participants, expect to number more than 1,000.

According to West Hartford Police, the following streets will be closed from 10:15 a.m. until noon: 

  • Raymond Rd. @ Isham Rd. 
  • Isham Rd. @ New St.
  • Raymond Rd. @ Memorial Rd.
  • Memorial Rd. @ South Main St.

Additionally, the parking meters along Memorial Rd. and Isham Rd. in Blue Back Square will be bagged to for the event. There will be no parking on these streets until the event is over.

Police officers and Explorers will be on hand to assist motorists and pedestrians.
