Police Locate Runaway Avon Teen Last Seen in West Hartford

The Silver Alert for Shanequa Lyn-Rock, 16, who was missing since December, has been canceled.

An Avon teen reported missing at the end of December has been located.

Police had previously stated that last indication of her whereabouts was that she used her ATM card in West Hartford around 3:28 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2012.

The Silver Alert issued for Shanequa-Lyn Rock on Dec. 29 has now been canceled. Avon detectives traced her whereabouts to a specific location in the Burlington Vermont area on Friday, according to a press release from the department.

“We have located where she’s at. We’re just trying to make contact with her," Avon Police Lt. Kelly Walsh told Patch Friday morning. “She’s okay. We’ve made contact with a couple other parties who have talked to her.”

Avon police enlisted the help of the Burlington Police Department in Vermont, who responded to the address given to them Friday and found her in "good health," the release stated.

Rock was discovered missing from her Avon home over a month ago early morning on Dec. 29 and had left without her medication, police previously stated. No foul play was involved, according to police.

The Avon Police Department is not releasing further information on the incident because Rock is a juvenile.
