Wanted: Your Photos of Scenes in West Hartford

West Hartford Patch readers are invited to have their photos of scenes, special moments, and events published each week in this column.

West Hartford is a vibrant town, with something noteworthy happening nearly every day. While West Hartford Patch would love to be at every event, it's just not possible. But we don't want to miss those special moments, either.

One of our goals as a hyperlocal news site is to be your community bulletin board. We already bring you up-to-date news and photographs about fundraisers, school activities, residents' accomplishments, police activity, and much more.

Many of you already comment on our stories, but we'd love to hear – and see – more from you. That's why we're starting this new column.

"Scene Around West Hartford" will be a place where readers can have their own photos published in a gallery. You know those priceless shots of your kids playing at Fern Park, hitting a baseball over the fence at the UConn baseball complex, having a lemonade stand, and more that you already post on Facebook? Send them to Patch!

Several readers have submitted photos in the past few days. Included in today's gallery are shots of skim boarders at Spice Bush Swamp in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, and others of people enjoying Tuesday night's concert at .

If enough photos are received, we will post this column every Wednesday. Readers can post photos directly to the site once the column is published (all you need to do is sign in with your registered email address and then click the "add photos" tab), or you can email them directly to ronni.newton@patch.com.

Thursday is the first day of school. Patch will be taking photos at several schools, but we can't catch those adorable kindergartners everywhere. Send us your photos, and we'll do an extra column this week if there are enough.
