West Hartford Youth Kicks Off Travelers MS Walk

Cameron Gregory, who recently received the Petit Youth Award, was given the opportunity to cut the ribbon at the start of the 2012 Walk.

Nine-year-old Cameron Gregory of West Hartford cut the ribbon at the start of the 2012 Travelers Walk MS, held Sunday, April 22, in West Hartford on the campus of the University of Connecticut.

Walk MS spokesperson, 16-year-old Lindsay Noble was to cut the ribbon, but in an act of selflessness, handed the scissors to Gregory, who was recently received the . Noble, whose mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, was herself diagnosed with MS when she was just 15.

Gregory captains the MS Super Kids fundraising team, which has raised almost $2,000 to date.

Onlookers at the ribbon cutting include Barbara Fratamico, Smithtown, N.Y., whose son-in-law, Darren Kramer grand marshals the event; Lisa Gerrol, president of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter; Lindsay Noble, Cromwell; her mother, Judy Noble, Cromwell; Darren Kramer, Madison, WTNH News 8; and Renee DiNino, Wethersfield, The River 105.9.

To date the 2012 Walk MS has raised more than $1.1 million toward a $1.45 million goal. Funds raised ensure ongoing scientific research to find better treatments and a cure. Funds also provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents battling multiple sclerosis.
