What's Open, What's Closed on President's Day

Today is a federal and state holiday.

Feb. 18 is considered a holiday in observance of President's Day.

Trash and recycling collection will operate on the normal schedule this week and will not be impacted by the holiday.

State and local government offices are closed but many retail businesses will remain open. The following is a partial listing of some of the holiday openings and closings. Readers are encouraged to provide updates in the comments section.

  • West Hartford Town Hall: Closed
  • West Hartford Public Library: Closed
  • West Hartford Public Schools: Closed all week.
  • Banks: Closed, except for TD Bank
  • U.S. Post Offices: Closed
  • State Government Offices: Closed
  • State courts: Closed
  • DMV and AAA: Closed
  • Liquor stores: Permitted to be open
  • Supermarkets: Open
  • Retail stores: Most open
  • Restaurants: Running on their usual Monday schedules.

The Children's Museum, which is usually closed on Mondays, will be open on President's Day. Special skating sessions are also scheduled at Veteran's Memorial Rink.

Hi Barbara, We are so sorry this happened. Last night we added 200 sites to our great new BetaRead More platform and we think that made our newsletter server go haywire. Our engineers are hard at work to fix this bug and we are hopeful that things will be much smoother on Thursday.
