If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus? West Hartford has received national and local accolades for best schools, best town, cool suburb and more. I am so thankful to live in this community and to benefit from the hard work and planning involved in its design. We are governing and making decisions to keep West Hartford strong in these challenging economic times. There are many developments such as the boutique hotel in Blue Back, Charter Oak School building, designing some solutions around Fastrak and possibly the UCONN property that will need that same focus.
I feel that our incumbent team will make sound decisions that align with West Hartford vision and values as we move through these unique opportunities for growth and development.
What do you feel is the biggest issue facing West Hartford today? We are working our way through budgets with shortfalls from the state with ECS and negotiating contracts to balance our retiree pension for the future. What skills do you have that you could bring to the community? I have worked in banking and finance for 15 years as well as many non-profit advocacy groups for my entire life. I am a person who has walked in many shoes of our voting public such as living and working in a foreign country, navigating a country and culture in a second language. I am a transplant to New England and experienced all of the newcomer challenges, as well as the benefits of an amazing school system with daughters who enjoyed the Morley, KP, Hall schools. They have both achieved undergraduate degrees from UCONN and Georgetown. West Hartford what’s next…putting the team in place to keep planning for the future! Vote for Judy Casperson and the entire Democratic team on November 5, 2013.
