Why did you run for office?

It is an honor and a privilege to serve this special and unique community that is my home town. I grew up here and have raised four sons. My elderly parents still remain in the same house. I have been very blessed with all this community has offered to me and I want to do all I can to not only preserve West Hartford’s enviable quality of life but to make it a little bit better. I listen with an open heart and mind and govern with civility, common sense, and a vision for the future.

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?

My focus is to build upon the success that West Hartford has experienced and position us for continued success for the next 20 years or more; including  great schools, safe streets and our enviable quality of life. I will also continue my work with the West Hartford Senior population.

Our world is changing so rapidly-many jobs that existed 10 ago are no more. We need to ensure that West Hartford is poised to meet the challenges facing us today and position us for future success into the next 20 years.  This includes smart growth and development, planning for new educational challenges and opportunities while capitalizing on technological advances. As an elected leader we will need to govern with common sense and civility to remain one of the most well managed, desirable and respected communities in the country.

What skills do you have that you could bring to the community?

As Deputy Mayor and Chair of Finance and Budget I am proud to have produced responsible budgets during very difficult financial times. The most recent budget was the lowest spending increase in over 20 years.

I am here to listen and empathize with my constituents. Our community is smart and engaged. They have valid concerns and great ideas.  I care about this community and making it the best it can be everyday.
