Emotional Intelligence Parent Workshop

Emotions drive learning, decision-making, creativity, relationships, and health. The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence uses the power of emotions to create a more effective and compassionate society. The Center conducts research and teaches people of all ages how to develop their emotional intelligence.  Research shows that emotional intelligence matters for everyone, especially children. Moods affect classroom performance, and children with higher emotional intelligence can control and regulate their moods more efficiently. These children are better prepared to focus, learn, and ultimately, succeed in school.

On Tuesday, April 22nd from 6:00-8:00 P.M., the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence staff is conducting a lively workshop with practical strategies for you and your children at the Noah Webster Library in West Hartford, Lower Level Meeting Room.  You will learn what Emotional Intelligence is and why it matters for you and your children, and leave with specific strategies and tools that can be used every day at home.  Dinner will be provided and childcare is available. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Julia Rusert at Julia_Rusert@whps.org or call 860.335.0075.  This special workshop is being sponsored by West Hartford Great by 8, Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and the Bridge Family Center.

The Bridge Family Center was founded in 1969 to meet the needs of West Hartford community youth.  Over the years, the Bridge expanded its outreach efforts to develop programs in partnership with local schools.  Today they are a comprehensive, regional nonprofit agency offering a broad range of services to children, youth, and families in the Greater Hartford area.
