Mending 101

In Mending 101, participants will learn three basic stitches (running stitch, backstitch, whipstitch), then use those skills to mend a torn seam, sew on a button, hem a pair of pants or a skirt, and darn a hole in a sweater or sock.

Bring in item or two to mend as listed above, as well as a pair of small, sharp scissors. Some scissors will be available to borrow. Participants may also bring a small sewing kit if they have one. Open to everyone age 8 and over.

Mending 101 is $25 per person ($20 for museum members) and everyone will take home a sewing needle, thread, needle threader, and instructions. The course is limited to 15 people.
