WEST HARTFORD, CT - The first show in Playhouse on Park’s Children’s Series “Miss Nelson is Missing” is scheduled for 13 public performances from November 10th through November 19th. Miss Nelson is Missing, the staged theater production written by Joan Cushing, is based on the very popular children’s book of the same name written by Harry Allard and James Marshall. About Miss Nelson is Missing: The students of Room 207 are lucky. Their teacher, Miss Nelson, is the easiest teacher in school and lets them do whatever they want. One day when Miss Nelson doesn't show up for school, Room 207 has a new substitute teacher. Miss Viola Swamp just happens to be the meanest substitute teacher in the whole world. Now it is up to the students to find out what happened to Miss Nelson and get her back, or they will be stuck with Viola Swamp forever.
The New York Times writes: "A gifted playwright and composer, Ms. Cushing has created a musical that will charm anyone who has ever sat in front of a schoolteacher's desk-or, for that matter, behind it."
