Rock Opera Workshop “The Clowns” at Playhouse on Park
WEST HARTFORD, CT – After a successful reading with us last year, the rock opera, “The Clowns’ is back at Playhouse On Park and will be presented in a full production workshop Friday, January 4th through January 6th.
Written by West Hartford's own, Andrew Mayo and Matthew Dicks, of Newington, this rock opera follows hopeless geek, MC, aspiring rock star, Jake, and a host of other offbeat characters as they grapple with love and life on the night of a high-octane Battle of the Bands. Complete with an all-rock score based on actual opera arias, “The Clowns” is a unique modern musical about struggling to find and stay true to oneself.
In this unique workshop format, the audience plays an active role in the development of the budding production. After viewing a full performance, the audience will provide feedback through response cards and a group talk back. These activities give audience members a great opportunity to comment and make constructive suggestions to the team on how to further develop their work.
Playhouse on Park is proud to support this project and looks forward to helping it further its development through this special limited engagement.
This event is BYOB and all tickets are $15, general admission.
Workshop performances will be held on January 4th and 5th, 2012 at 8:00pm with a matinee performance on January 6th at Playhouse on Park 244 Park Road West Hartford, CT. Nestled on Park Road in West Hartford, Playhouse on Park is Hartford’s most affordable and intimate professional theater, where the parking is free, the actors are right off Broadway, and the back row is just four seats from the stage. All tickets for the show can be purchased in person or over the phone, Tuesday to Friday (10am - 6pm); Saturday (10am - 2pm) and 2 hours before curtain; or online at www.PlayhouseOnPark.org.
