VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR VETERANS DAY FLAG PLACEMENTS

The West Hartford Veterans Committee is seeking volunteers to place American Flags at grave markers of Veterans at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, November 10th, at 9:00 AM.

The placement of flags at Veteran’s grave markers has been a tradition at Fairview Cemetery for over 40 years. The placement of flags is done each year for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.  Event coordinator, Jean Paul Berard, has spearheaded the effort for over 30 years and each year he solicits the support of the West Hartford community.  “We reach out to the general community and volunteer groups like the Boy Scouts and Veterans organizations and the response is always overwhelming.   There are hundreds of women and men that wore the uniform of the United States military who are at rest in Fairview cemetery and it’s important that we remember their service to our country.” said Berard.
