Mandell JCC Offers Summer in China 2014; Informational Meeting Sunday, September 22, 2013

Travel to China with the Mandell JCC and Lauren Drazen and
immerse yourself in its culture with the Mandell JCC’s 14-day trip from July
2-16, 2014. A free informational meeting will be held on Sunday, September 22,
2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue,
West Hartford, CT. This trip is open to the community and is designed for
adults and families with children ages 15 and up.

A Mandarin Chinese teacher in West Hartford Public Schools,
Lauren Drazen will lead the China trip, which will take place July 2 through
July 16, 2014. As part of her role as an educator, she plans, implements, and
leads student trips to China. Her passion for Chinese culture and travel led
her to plan and lead adult trips to China as well. In addition to traveling
through different parts of the country and seeing landmarks like the Great Wall
of China, participants will get an opportunity to fully experience Chinese
culture through Tai’chi in local parks, live music, dance performances, and
visits to schools and food markets. Finally, there will be three cities on the
tour that have significant Jewish history: Harbin, Kaifeng and Shanghai.
