The first award will be presented to Frances Crowe, 94, who for years has been an activist against Vermont Yankee, the dangerous nuclear plant that is closing. The next award will go to CT Representative Roberta Willis, a champion of clean energy who was instrumental in the struggle against SB 1138. PACE radiation monitors will also be honored.

The next segment of the program centers on Fukushima, the horrific nuclear accident that is still impacting thousands of lives. Roger Smith, Director of Clean Water Action, will speak about working with the affected Japanese towns which are trying to rebuild with a focus on clean energy and environmental sustainability. The project includes potential lessons that the US could use as it attempts to recover from super storm Sandy, future destructive storms and cyber terrorism.

The program is sponsored by People’s Action for Clean Energy (www.pace-cleanenergy.org), 860-693-4813.

PACE is a non-profit public health organization.
