Poe Down Below

Old-time Radio Theater Performance of Edgar Allan Poe—in a Spooky Locale

Capital Classics Theatre Company and The Mark Twain House & Museum Collaborate on Poe Down Below

Capital Classics Theatre Company, in partnership with The Mark Twain House & Museum, presents Poe Down Below (a spooky addition to this Halloween season) on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 22 & 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Poe Down Below features Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous (and spookiest) short stories, “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “The Tell Tale Heart,” performed in the style of old-time radio theater. The performance features professional actors and live sound effects, reminiscent of the “Golden Age of Radio.” Poe Down Below is directed and adapted by Laura Sheehan, artistic director of Capital Classics, and features core company members, Michael Nowicki, David Regan, and Geoffrey Sheehan.

Staged in the basement of The Mark Twain House, audience members can also learn about the House’s haunted history, which has been featured on Syfy Channel's “Ghost Hunters” and the Biography Channel's “My Ghost Story.”
