First Taste of Elmwood A Huge Success!

It is often said that after a storm there’s always a peaceful calm. Well this theory does not apply to West Hartford’s Saint Brigid School (SBS).

Wow, what a night! On Thursday, February 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Elmwood Business Association celebrated their first annual “Taste of Elmwood” food and beverage expo at SBS.

People were lined-up three-fold before the doors were opened. Tickets were $25 per person and a portion of the proceeds went to Saint Brigid School.

The place was packed with people as they sampled some of the most tantalizing foods from all types of sizzling Buffalo wings, deep dish Shepard’s pie, vegetarian chili, pizza, seafood paella, New England clam chowder, sirloin steak to delectable, mouth-watering, bread pudding for dessert, and much more.

Saint Brigid School Principal Shevon Hickey stated, “Indeed it was a perfect evening! The strength and vitality of the Elmwood business community was showcased tonight and Saint Brigid School is thrilled to have benefited from their efforts. As active members of the Elmwood community, we are very grateful for the support we’ve received.”

President of the Elmwood Business Association Dr. Rick Liftig said, "I couldn't be happier with the success of this event. Seeing all of these people after a storm is incredible. It's a testament to that fact that Elmwood is alive and ready to do business!"

Ten local restaurants served up this incredible feast. Participating restaurants: Beachland Tavern, Corner Pug, Cora Cora, Fernwood Restaurant, Hall’s Market & Catering, Pepe’s Pizza, Sliders, Tapa’s; Avery Soda and Two Pour Guys (beer and wine) capped off the evening with a variety of much sought after beverages.

Live musical entertainment was provided by Saint Brigid School students.  Pierce Vaughns and Dylan Errico played violins, and Errico also performed several pieces on the flute, while Evan Thompson played the piano throughout the evening.  We hope to see you at next year’s second annual “Taste of Elmwood” food and beverage expo.
