Its less than one month ‘till camp starts. Which camp? Camp Gan Israel of West Hartford. All year the children and teens of West Hartford and its environs are studying hard, taking tests, and attending classes.
The gear shifts when the summer arrives. Children and parents alike want a change from regular routine. Thats where C.G.I comes in: Professional and exciting staff, programs, activities & outings. Parents also experience the excitement and energy of camp with regular newsletters, and Parent-Camper events.
This year CGI of West Hartford has announced the appointment of new directors. Tzvi & Raizel (Chaya of Big Y’S sister) Seliger (Beck) come with an abundance of experience, and a passion to create a great, organized, camp atmosphere.

Camp Gan Israel has chosen the Hebrew Academy School facilities as Camp grounds. Located in Bloomfield, CT, the building is spacious and well kept, and the sprawling outdoor recreational area includes a playground suited to our kiddie program (ages 2-4) and the sports fields are great for the main camp (age 5-9) and pioneer program (ages 10-12).
In order for campers to grow healthily, they should have a wide spectrum of activities. At Camp Gan Izzy, the array of activities is impressive. Arts & crafts, sports, choice activities, great off-campus outings, Jewish discovery time, and more!

Children are a tremendous responsibility. The Gan Izzy staff were chosen with that in mind - they are great, fun, reliable individuals, and our Camper to Counselor ratio is kept small with plenty of help from our C.I.T. (ages 13-14) and Junior Counselor (ages 15+) program. We’re licensed by the State of Connecticut.
Whomsoever has had the fortune to meet Rabbi and Mrs. Gopin will be struck by the immensity of their idealism and energy that have served the Greater West Hartford community over the last 30 years. It is indeed an honor for the directors to have been chosen by them to direct this endeavor, and they are determined to see that Staff, Campers, and Parents, have the time of their lives!
