A Taste for Hope

Tasty food and wine will be the highlight of “A Taste for Hope” on Sunday, November 6 at The Town and County Club, 22 Woodland St., Hartford. International wines, gourmet buffet supper and auction emceed by Geoff Fox of Fox Channel 61 will be featured. The presenting sponsor is International Aero Engines.

Attendees will sample international wines presented by Hartley & Parker. Wines will be available for sale with a portion going to support VNA HealthCare’s hospice program. Guests will also enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a gourmet buffet supper with an international theme. Silent auction packages will center on wine for the collector, travel and entertainment.

Now in its seventh year, the event will run from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and reservations are available for $75. per individual or $125 for an individual Patron. Jay Marciano will speak about his family’s experience with VNA HealthCare hospice services. Attendees may participate in a “Fund a Need for Hospice” by making donations to benefit hospice patient care.

At last year’s event, more than 250 people enjoyed the evening which raised nearly $42,000 to support hospice care. Hospice is a holistic philosophy of care that provides medical, spiritual and emotional care to both the patient and their loved ones.  Services include nursing, pain management, medical social workers, caregiver respite and bereavement and pastoral counselors.

Last year, VNA HealthCare’s hospice program enabled 800 terminally ill patients in Greater Hartford and Greater Waterbury to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by family and friends.
