Lights Out Hartford! - Throw The Switch for Charity Party

"The Phoenix "Boat Building'' and the Connecticut Science Center are taking part Friday night in an energy-awareness campaign by turning off non-essential lights."

"To raise awareness for energy conservation in the city, buildings in downtown Hartford will shut off their lights at 10:15 p.m. Friday."

"The Lights Out Hartford event will run from 7-11 p.m. Friday at the Connecticut Science Center. The $50 donation from each attendee will raise money for Rebuilding Hartford Together, a nonprofit that free repairs for low-income homeowners."

"The event is on Earth Day weekend to promote sustainable energy use and conservation. As part of the ongoing effort after the Lights Out event, businesses in downtown Hartford are asked to turn off all their non-essential lights at night and on the weekend."

"Lights Out supporters include Aetna, Budderfly, CB Richard Ellis, the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, Hartford Steam Boiler, the Connecticut Power and Energy Society, the Connecticut Science Center, ICETEC Energy Services, MetroHartford Alliance, Point Energy Solutions, and Pullman & Comley."
