COMPLETE RESULTS

BOSTON, Mass.—The University of Hartford cross country teams returned to Boston's Franklin Park Saturday for the 2013 New England Championships. The Hartford women finished 22nd overall and 17th among Division I programs in the race. The Hawk men took 33nd overall and 18th among Division I squads.

Running their second-straight race at Franklin Park, each of the Hartford women beat their 5k time posted at the Boston College Battle at Beantown two weeks ago. The top four Hawk men also finished ahead of the 8k pace they set at that meet.

Megan Barry again paced the Hartford women at the NEICAAA meet. The senior from South Yarmouth, Mass., finished 14th among 283 individuals in the women's varsity race to earn All-New England honors. Barry finished with a time of 17 minutes, 58 seconds on the 5k course, her best time of the 2013 season.

Sophomore Aleixa Diaz, senior Jennifer Flores and junior Sam Crisafulli all broke the 20-minute mark at the New England Championships. Diaz completed the race in 19:21, just ahead of Flores at 19:23 and Crisafulli at 19:27. Flores and Crisafulli each set season-best times for a 5k course.

Freshman Mikela Freeman, senior Catherine Carey and freshman Kristen Dakin round out the Hawk lineup. Freeman finished with a time of 20:22. Carey clocked in at 20:45, a season-best 5k time. Dakin finished with a time of 21:33.

On the men's side, seniors Andrew Dwyer and John Busque led the Hartford lineup with season-best 8k times. Dwyer notched a time of 25:51, just ahead of his classmate Busque, who posted a time of 26:02.

Chris Helminski and Nick Garcia also finished with season-best 8k marks. Helminski, a sophomore, finished in 26:39 while the freshman Garcia stopped the clock in 27:37.

Junior Matthew Stoutz and sophomore Daniel Fernandez rounded out the Hartford squad with times of 28:10 and 28:52, respectively.

Next up for Hartford cross country is a trip to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Invitational October 19.
