Men's Basketball Releases America East Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In addition to its 15 game, non-conference slate, the University of Hartford men's basketball team will play 16 league games during the upcoming season, as announced by the America East Conference office on Thursday afternoon.

Although they are scheduled to play eight league contests at home, giving the Hawks 12 total games at the Chase Family Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion in 2013-14, conference play begins on the road at Albany, the reigning America East Tournament champion, on Saturday, January 4.

Following its final non-conference game at Dartmouth on January 7, Hartford opens up the home portion of its league schedule with two-straight contests: Maine on Thursday, January 9 and Stony Brook on Sunday, January 12. The Hawks split last season's regular season meetings with both the Black Bears and the Seawolves.

The month of January features two more home dates for the Hawks, starting with the first-ever matchup with new league member UMass Lowell on Monday the 20th. A contest with rival Vermont concludes Hartford's first month of America East action as the two squads are slated to battle on Wednesday, January 29, completing the first tour of the conference.

Throughout January, Hartford will also play three more games on the road: New Hampshire (Saturday, January 18), Binghamton (Thursday, January 23), and UMBC (Saturday, January 25). Last year, the Hawks swept both the Wildcats and Bearcats while splitting a pair with the Retrievers.

February also kicks off on the road on the first of the month at Stony Brook before the Hawks welcome the Great Danes to West Hartford one week later on Saturday, February 8.

Following a road match on Maine on Wednesday, February 12, Hartford returns home on Saturday, February 15 to entertain the New Hampshire Wildcats.

The Hawks continue to move through February with back-to-back road dates with UMass Lowell (Wednesday, February 19) and Vermont (Sunday, February 23) before concluding the regular season with two-straight home games.

That final stretch features contests with Binghamton and UMBC on Thursday, February 27 and Sunday, March 2, respectively. The 2014 America East Championship is scheduled for March 7-10 at SEFCU Arena on the campus of the University at Albany.

The Hawks went 10-6 in America East Conference play last season, earning the third seed in the league's tournament. In the Championship, Hartford stumbled, falling in the opening round to UMBC, the sixth seed.
