West Hartford Health and Leisure Services to Host Holiday Party on Thursday

Gift card donations may still be dropped off at Room 306 in Town Hall.

The West Hartford Health and Leisure Services Department is hosting its annual holiday party on Thursday.

Some 300 children from 200 families referred to the department are expected to enjoy the festivities, including pizza, ice cream, crafts and a chance to meet Santa.

“It’s just a joyful time for everyone,” said  Human Services Manager Susan Huleatt.

The department is still accepting donations in the form of gift cards for the children who are ages 12 and under, Huleatt said.

Huleatt said that the goal is to have gift cards in the $25 range from places that provide the most variety for parents to choose something on the wish or want list of a child.

Huleatt said that the event has enough volunteers.

“We are touched every year by the people who come back every year to help with pizza, scooping ice cream, and taking photos of kids with Santa,” she said. “It’s very much a community effort in many facets.”
