The Weekend Guide 3/8-3/10

Another week has come and gone. It's that time again to start making your weekend family plans. Hulafrog's got your back. Check out what's on tap this weekend with our weekend guide!

It’s that time again to start making your weekend family plans. Hulafrog’s got your back. On tap this weekend: St. Patty’s Day parade in downtown Hartford, Parent’s Night Out at Generation Y, free Second Saturday at Wadsworth Atheneum, great musical performances by all kid casts including Legally Blonde at the Mandell JCC and Cinderalla at the Newington Children’s Theatre Company. You can go to one or try them all! Just make sure to have a ton of fun, and please tell them Hulafrog sent ya!

FRIDAY:

Parent’s Night Out
Who needs a babysitter when you have Generation Y on your team?! Enjoy a night out on the town and rest assured knowing your kids are having a blast too! Kids can stay the entire evening or you can pick them up at any time. 

Where: Generation Y, West Hartford
When: Friday and Saturday, 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Fee: $10.00 an hour (plus each sibling is 50% off)

Cinderella at NCTC
Disney's CINDERELLA KIDS will charm its way into your heart and remind you that dreams really can come true! With a beautiful score including "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and the classic "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" the whole family will be singing along.

When: Friday & Saturday, 7:00 PM, Saturday & Sunday, 2:00 PM
Fee: Adults: $12.00 ($15.00 at door), Senior, Student & Child: $10.00 ($12.00 at door)

SATURDAY:

St Patrick’s Day Parade 
Head downtown and enjoy the 42nd Annual Greater Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Parade starts at 11:00 but we suggest getting there early to ensure a good seat! Parade begins at Capitol Avenue by the State Capitol, takes a left on Main Street, a left on Asylum, a left on Ford Street, and then ends by the Memorial Arch. The parade is held rain or shine.

Dragons, Gremlins, & Magical Creatures at Wadsorth Atheneum
Stop by the Wadsworth Atheneum museum before or after the Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade to find magical and mischievous creatures in art. Make a headdress or elf ears to wear to the parade, listen to fairy tales, and enjoy Irish music by the Whiskey Brothers!

Legally Blonde the Musical
This production is perfect for the “big” kids as they’ll be mesmerized by the all kid crew singing and stealing the stage. This great performance will have the whole family singing a slew of new songs.

Fee: $9.00 - $11.00

Lowe’s Build & Grow Monster Jam 
This Saturday’s workshop will feature Monster Mut! Your little one will love getting to build their very own Monster Truck and of course they get to take their creation home too.

Play For All 
This excellent special needs playgroup gives parent the opportunity to talk, support and encourage each other, while allowing their children time to play and socialize together.

SUNDAY:

Open Sugarhouse 
Learn the art and skill of maple sugaring from Northwest Park’s expert, Chuck Drake. Afterward you can enjoy the fresh air, explore the park, visit with the animals, or take a scenic walk for a perfect outdoor day.

Big East Women’s Basketball Championship

Do you have any aspiring basketball players in the house? Check out the Big East Women’s Basketball Championship (going on all weekend) for a day of family fun. This session (Session 4) hosts games at both 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.

When: Saturday & Sunday, Mulitple Games
Fee: $25.00 for session
