What's in Your Bag this Halloween?

Do you love Halloween but worry about all the sweets coming home with your kids or sitting in bowls around your house? Check out these alternatives!

Do you love Halloween but worry about all the sweets coming home with your kids or sitting in bowls around your house? Here are a couple of healthier tips for you promoted by Community Renewal Team's CATCH Healthy Habits Program:

Instead of candy, consider handing out some fun, nutritious alternatives:

-small boxes of raisins
-Grahm or goldfish crackers
-small bottles of water
-sugar-free gum
-pretzels
-un-popped bags of natural popcorn
-non-refridgerated tube-packaged yogurts
-small bags of trail mix or nuts
-roasted pumpkin seeds / sunflower seeds
-fun pencils, erasers, stickers, plastic rings, plastic wristbands, Play-Doh, playing cards or other small toys
-encourage physical activity and hand out Frisbees, balls or other sports-related items
-small donomination gift cards for downloads of new ringtones or songs

If you are feeling even more motivated to encourage healthy habits, you can become a CATCH Coach this fall by volunteering to work with children in an after-school setting that promotes health and wellness for you and the students. Contact Renee Hamel at 860-760-3087 or through email at hamelr@crtct.org. New schools are starting up CATCH sites next month!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!!

Hi Barbara, We are so sorry this happened. Last night we added 200 sites to our great new BetaRead More platform and we think that made our newsletter server go haywire. Our engineers are hard at work to fix this bug and we are hopeful that things will be much smoother on Thursday.
