Eight More Kingswood Oxford Seniors Honored by National Merit Scholarship Corporation

Eight more KO seniors are recognized for outstanding performance on standardized exams by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Eight more seniors from Kingswood Oxford School have been recognized for outstanding performances on standardized tests offered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These are in addition to Caley Henderson ’13, who was named a National Merit Semifinalist earlier this fall.

Five students have been honored as National Merit Commended students, and three students have been recognized as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

The five Commended Students, who scored among the top 5% of students nationally on the PSAT/NMSQT exam taken in October 2011, are:

  • Kent Byrd, son of Christopher and Kimberley Byrd of West Hartford
  • Lauren Goldman, daughter of Ethan and Julie Goldman of West Hartford
  • Edward Meade, son of Paul and Clare Meade of Wethersfield
  • Molly Miller, daughter of Marc and Lillian Miller of Hartford
  • Mark Toubman, son of Gary and Susan Toubman of Newington

The three students who were cited as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, among only 3,100 students so honored nationally, are:

  • Charles DeBerry, son of Charles and Robin DeBerry of Cromwell
  • Stephanie Fagbemi, daughter of Stephen and Antonia Fagbemi of West Suffield
  • Taelor Scott, daughter of Kimberly Scott of Unionville and Stuart Scott of Avon

“We are so proud of these outstanding students, not only for their exceptional performance on standardized tests, but also for all the other ways in which they enrich the KO community,” said Natalie Demers, KO’s Assistant Head of School for Academic Life.
